At Hampton Waste Management we understand that the prospect of clearing an entire house can be pretty daunting and even a partial clearance can be enough to raise your stress levels.  When it comes to clearing a house, there are four common options to consider:

Option 1) Tell yourself ‘I can do this myself’ and use your car to make multiple trips to the local tip or perhaps you could splash out and hire a van for the job – we admire your endeavour but is this really the best use of your time and resources?

 

Option 2) Get in touch with your local council to arrange a ‘bulky waste collection’. This option is normally inexpensive, but you could be waiting weeks for the council to confirm your pick-up date and there’s a strict limit to the type and quantity of waste they will typically collect.  You’ll need to make sure all items are allowable and made available for pick up outside your property – with this option you’ll usually be left with several items that you’ll need to dispose of yourself.

 

Option 3) Hire a skip! Skip operator’s fees vary based on the capacity of the skip you hire and may be subject to an additional permit fee if the skip needs to be parked on the road.  Estimating the size of skip you need can be tricky, too small and you’ll need to arrange for an additional skip, too large and you’ll have paid over the odds.  You’ll need to do all of the loading yourself and arrange for a pick up once the skip is full.
